Egypt’s Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA) has issued an operating
Digital Signature permit for Fixed Misr, an Egyptian fast growing cybersecurity IT provider, through ITIDA’s
E-Signature root CA Licensing Department, to provide digital signature services, after receiving the highest scores
in the overall evaluation of submitted offers.
Fixed Misr was granted the digital signature operating permit on March 1, 2022, for a duration of 3 years, after
fulfilling the technical conditions and specifications stated in the terms of awarding licenses to provide digital
signature services agreement No. 1 of 2021.
Licensed companies offer a variety of services including providing registration services, issuing digital signature
certificates, digital signature tools, Online Certificate Status Protocol (OCSP) services, E-seal and time stamp
services for both individuals and businesses.
Fixed Misr has a proven track record in implementing a series of high-tech projects, in addition to its contribution
to Egypt’s digital transformation, through the implementation of Digital Egypt platform, the Electricity smart
services platform, in addition to many other national DX projects.
ITIDA has recently granted new digital signature licenses to two companies in light of its efforts to expand and put
the digital signature services in full practice across Egypt; targeting linking government services to the private
and civil sectors. Additionally, ITIDA also aims to facilitate digital transformation efforts, meeting the strategic
objectives of MCIT's Digital Egypt strategy.
Its worthy to note that the executive regulations of the digital signature law were amended under the decision of
the Minister of communications and information technology No. 361 of 2020, to accelerate Egypt’s digital
transformation adoption; and the central role of digital signature in developing the efficiency of administrative
work; and improving the government services, and adding to Egypt’s competitiveness globally.
The digital signature law, issued in 2004, and upon which ITIDA was established, supports Egypt’s e-commerce
industry by securing the internet as a legally viable medium for digital transactions and aims to support digital
transformation in all state sectors.
